For this project, I refreshed the previous branding I had created for the dodgeball tournament run by City First Youth. After working with the previous branding, I decided to simplify the logo to make it more suitable for multiple uses. To start with, I contained all the information in the logo within the shield so it would be easier to build future designs around. To do this I created the new center mark in the middle of the shield with a silhouette of someone playing dodgeball. This also created an alternate logo of just the silhouette in the red and black circle that we could use in smaller applications where the full shield wouldn’t be possible. I also made use of the circle logo and curved the “dodgeball tournament” part of the event name around the circle and used some stars from the nearby Chicago flag to fill the gaps. Finally I filled the top and bottom of the shield with the remaining info needed such as the year at the bottom and the target audience and location at the top.
