One Voice Artwork

For this album artwork, Larry G. Hamilton requested a simple format that could easily be replicated for future singles. This being a classic gospel song, I found a high resolution, royalty free image of a cross to be used as the background, as well as a couple others as potential examples for future singles. Next I color graded the photos in Lightroom before bringing them into Photoshop. As part of the color grade, I decided to make all of the photos black and white to allow for more emphasis on the color of the text and so the text wouldn’t compete with the colors in the photo. For the next step, I decided on using two simple, minimal fonts for readability. I added a colored gradient to the title of the song to put more visual focus on it, as well as making it bigger than the artists’ names. The client also requested that I put the record label logo on the cover so I put that in the upper left corner so it wouldn’t interfere with the design. Finally I added some halftone texture to the overall image to make it feel more like an old record sleeve design.
