We Are MMXVI Shirt Design

The main inspiration for this class t-shirt design was the schools mascot, a bald eagle. To make it easier, I used the back design of a US quarter as a reference for the eagle’s anatomy and proportions before bringing it into Illustrator. By using the single stroke, I was able to make the design more minimalist, while still adding some detail to the directions of the feathers. Next I added some text at the bottom referencing the graduating class’ year. To tie it all together, I added some very subtle distressing texture to the design to make it feel more “worn in.”
