For this project, MCX LLETTI requested artwork for his newest single “When You Loved Me.” Inspired by the title and content of the song, I found a high resolution, royalty free image of an orange flower on a bright blue background. After some subtle color correction in Lightroom, I brought the image into Photoshop to begin designing the artwork. Since I hadn’t done a border on any of my past artwork for MCX, I decided to place the rose image in a black frame on a paper texture to make it more unique from past covers. Since the artwork appeared somewhat simple with just the image in a border, I added a broken glass texture on top of the rose image to create more visual interest. I also added some gaussian blur to the rose image so you could still recognize what it was but wouldn’t be competing with the glass texture for your eyes to focus on. Next I added the song title and artist name at the top and bottom of the border in a simple sans serif font. Finally, I added some subtle textures to connect all the layers of the artwork together and make it more cohesive.
